WILL THE CONTINUED ATTACKS ON WOMEN, PRODUCE A BACKLASH THAT WILL BE FELT ACROSS THIS ENTIRE COUNTRY!!
Wednesday, February 29th, 2012Hello Bloggers/Readers, as I listen to the continued verbal attacks on the most valued commodity of our country, I get angrier and angrier. Is the desire to get elected to political office so important to some people that they will sacrifice and prostitute their moral character and demean an entire segment of our society. Yes, I am talking about our Women, who without their sacrifices both physically, mentally (and giving birth), men wouldn’t be here!! Their contributions to our society is equal to men and in some situations even more.
Naturally I am referring to the continued attacks on women’s rights to use contraception devices and passing of bills in some states to use invasive devices without the consent of a woman or her doctor. There are eight states including Virginia, Pennsylvania and Alabama that are using these tactics to basically humiliate women. It is WRONG and I hope all women continue to fight these archaic political actions. It reminds me of the women’s suffrage movement when women had to fight for the right to vote. They made sure their voices were heard and demanded to be treated equal, finally getting their GOD given right to vote in 1920.
Bloggers/Readers, this is a very tough subject for me or for any man to undertake, so, I won’t talk too long. I hope I am not off base. Let me know if I should just leave it to a woman to discuss. In my book ” The Two Edged Sword”, I described a situation when I had to defend a black female agent who was being fired. One of the reasons given was, when she accompanied two white agents to a police property room. The white agents showed the white property clerk their official credentials, with their picture. The black female agent showed her credential, with her picture, but was stopped by the clerk. ” I need two additional pieces of identification from you”, the clerk said. Although, the black agent complied she was visibly upset and made her feelings known to the clerk. The black agents conduct was considered unprofessional. Although there were some other actions that were considered in the attempted firing, I was able to stop the firing because it was unjust. The agent was not only black but a woman!!
In some states, using an invasive device on a woman without her consent is considered RAPE!! So in those situations wouldn’t we have STATE SPONSORED RAPE. To make things worse, the people making these decisions are men. Is this country going back to the dark ages?? If the problem is abortion, conception and birth control methods such as condoms, day after pill, IUDs and diaphragms etc., in my opinion will drastically reduce abortions. If the problem of abortions is based on Catholic beliefs, why does 98% of Catholic woman use birth control?? If the Catholic Bishops feel that their religion is being attacked or usurped, where was their outcry when so many children were being abused when they kept it quite and then moved the Priests from parish to parish for them to continue abusing kids.
This treatment of women has to be stopped and the people responsible should be dealt with at the ballot box. I know you can’t change attitudes but you can change behavior. I hope a change will come. For all you special women, I’d like to leave you with a strong quote by Maryanne Williamson:
