WILL THE 2012 POLITICAL CAMPAIGN BE THE MOST VIOLENT IN THIS COUNTRIES HISTORY??

WILL THE 2012 POLITICAL CAMPAIGN BE THE MOST VIOLENT IN THIS COUNTRIES HISTORY??

Former Secret Service Agent expresses concern about the physical safety of the people running for the Office of the President of the United States!!

America is entering into a political season that will probably have the candidates slugging it out for this Office, with no holds barred. The 2012 election will be like no previous political encounter because of the current climate of vitiosity, hate and anger exhibited by the different political factions and their followers.

This country has never witnessed such prejudiced hostility and animosity being generated in the name of political ideology in the last two years.. Congressmen being spit on, Californian Republican politician sending out pictures of the President depicting his mother and Dad as older chimpanzees holding a baby with the Presidents face, as a baby Chimp. This only feeds into the weaknesses of people who will believe anything if it strengthens their hatred towards a person who is different them.

How about the congressman who yelled ” YOU LIE”, during the Presidents State of the Union speech. In the History of this Country, that has never happened before and probably will never happen again. Of course, the congressman tried to dial it back and give a lame apology. In my 30+ years of Law Enforcement I have witnessed racism first hand and know from experience what racial hatred looks like.

Yes, there may have been some political differences in the congressman’s
Mind, but that look was anything but. He hated the man giving the speech and people with racist tendencies have no respect for blacks or anyone they feel are not their equal. Do you remember some of those awful photos of the white lynch mobs in the south and the looks on their faces as the watch a black person hanging from a tree. Sheer JOY! That is the look the congressman had after saying ” YOU LIE”, and he couldn’t contain himself.

In my auto-bio, The Two Edged Sword, I described one of my many experiences dealing with this subject matter. I was assigned to the 501st Military Police Company out of Fort Hood, Texas, and was sent to Oxford, Mississippi in 1962 to protect and enforce James Meredith’s attempt to be the first Black Man to be admitted into the University of Mississippi. The White segregationist, students and citizens of Oxford were fighting vehemently and violently to express their alleged right to keep OLE MISS Lilly White. People were killed in Oxford, Mississippi during this incident.

My unit’s motorcade had to travel through Memphis, Tenn. to get to Oxford, Miss. White people were lined along the route, shaking their fist, cursing and calling us all kind of names, just because a Black man wanted to get an education and we were going there to protect him.. The strange thing was, we hadn’t arrived in Mississippi. I still have a clear recollection of their faces. The Distorted, grotesque and twisted features that lined their faces with disgust. They hated Meredith and all of the U.S. Army going to enforce his GOD given right.

So now we are entering into the 2012 campaign and there is so much violence. The potential for horrific fervor is brewing under the surface and the sparks are everywhere, Unemployment, layoffs, potential loss of Social Security, Medicare and financial despair. Add that to political ideology, tea baggers, the haves and the have nots. Is it enough to push someone or a group of someone’s over the top?? When that happens, unfortunately, some innocent persons are harmed ( I.e. Oklahoma City.)

Violence happened in Tucson, Arizona in January 2011 where Rep. Gabby Giffords, was shot in the head, along with 12 other people, and 6 people died. The assailant wanted to make a statement against a political figure. Recently the President of France was attacked by a potential assailant who actually got his hands on the Presidents collar. Again a person wanted to make a political statement against the President of France for a political decision. These violent tendencies are not unique to this country, but the results are the same.

Now the individual in Norway, at least 93 people killed, because an individual didn’t like Muslims and their being assimilated in his countries society. Many of those killed were the countries youth, the countries future. The atrocity he spewed will last forever. Authorities found a manifesto that resembled that of Ted Kaczynski, the unabomber. Remember him?? Sounds somewhat familiar?? What about the building of the mosque in N.Y. A lot of anger and hatred. Is there a deranged individual out there, waiting, lurking, ready to explode?? We do know the propensity for violence is a integral part of our society. We read about it every single day!!!!

This is a great country, let’s all take a step back, think, think and think some more. 2012 doesn’t have to have violence. If your party loses, so be. Maybe you will win the next time. That’s the way this country has been since it was founded. Be a passionate winner and a gracious loser. Keep Blogging

Is President Obama Judged Unfairly Due To His Race? Former Secret Service Agent Talks about being Black While Protecting America at the Highest Levels

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Topic Summary

America’s attitude toward race has certainly progressed, as the 2008 election of President Barack Obama helps to illustrate. But since getting the job, has his performance been judged unfairly because he’s Black?

“It seems the president is in a ‘damned if you do / damned if you don’t’ situation,” explains Donald Tucker, author of the new book The Two-Edged Sword (www.DonTuckerBooks.com). He uses the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden as an example: “Instead of getting the praise well deserved, the media scrutinizes President Obama for the number of times he said ‘me’ or ‘I’ in his address to the nation that Sunday night.”

Tucker served his country in different capacities for most of his life, most notably as a United States Secret Service agent during some of the toughest years in this country’s history of civil rights. Personal experience in government service reminds him that judgments on job performance are not always unbiased. Tucker reflects, “I overcame the racist attitudes, discrimination and label of troublemaker to fight for equality, not only for myself, but for every person in the agencies I worked for.”

According to Tucker, there are certain buzzwords that surround this administration tipping off race as an issue. ”Think about the vitriol spewed at this sitting president over inviting the rapper Common to the White House and the speculation of legitimacy of his birth certificate,” he remarks. Does that happen if he’s White?

About Donald Tucker

Donald W. Tucker served nearly 25 years in the United States Secret Service. His career in law enforcement began as an undercover agent for the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (now called the DEA). Over the course of his career, Tucker oversaw one of the largest seizures of counterfeit U.S. currency in history and coordinated the investigation of the bombing of the Federal Courthouse in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Tucker’s journey from the ghetto on the South Side of Chicago to rising through the ranks to become one of America’s foremost federal law enforcement administrators and reformers was not easy and is chronicled in the new book The Two-Edged Sword (www.DonTuckerBooks.com). The discrimination he faced and stood up to during his professional journey earned him the nickname “Tucker the Troublemaker” and encouraged him to become a voice to be reckoned with as a civil rights advocate.
